“We are excited to partner with Eat MS Coast
and Rougaroux Rum to establish a signature
drink for the region. We think this cocktail will become synonymous with the destination, a drink that’s laid-back, coastal and pairs well with a beautiful sunset,” said Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast Executive Director Renee Areng.
Bartenders and chefs from across the Coast submitted their recipes which were then evaluated by a panel of judges, each with a background in culinary arts. After completing the judges’ blind taste test, four finalists were chosen to share their creations with locals at a series of public tastings.
The four finalists were Debbie Davis from
The Sycamore House in Bay St. Louis with
her refreshingly fruity Pelican Punch, Jessy Gazaway from Patio 44 in Biloxi with her sweetly sophisticated A Tale Between Two Bridges,
Williams Hennis from Murky Waters BBQ & Blues in Ocean Springs with his bright and flavorful Paradise Punch and Catherine Ryan from Bacchus on the Beach in Pass Christian with her Cat Island Cruiser, a mixture of tropical fruit and refreshing mint.
“We are excited to share our premium Rougaroux Rums with the Mississippi Gulf Coast culinary and cocktail community to create a signature cocktail for friends and visitors to enjoy for years to come,” said Johnny Culpepper, vice president of sales & operations at Donner Peltier Distillers, the makers of Rougaroux Rum.
Each recipe expertly incorporated one of the many Rougaroux rum flavors.
Once all the official votes are in from the tastings and online ballots, an official launch party will be held in May.
