biggest strengths. “Her sister is her biggest cheerleader,” Kathy said of her daughters. “Hannah comes to every event, to every race.”
“I’m really proud of her,” agrees Hannah.” I know she’s going to do really good [at West Point]. She’s really committed to everything she does. To know her is to love her.”
So, how does Wagner feel about entering West Point? She is excited and a bit nervous, but she is prepared. “I think my faith will help me a lot
during my time in the military,” she said. “Faith is the most important thing in my life. I use my runs as a time to pray. I stopped listening to music. Most of the time I run in silence so that I can pray. Everything relates back to my faith.”
Her faith in a power greater than herself has helped her attain her goals. “She has such a grateful attitude,” explained her mother. “When she
sees someone who is giving her competition, her attitude is one of

thankfulness because all it can do is make her better.”
And that may be the true reason Wagner loves to run: the community she finds in her teammates and her coaches, including St. Patrick coach Tim McDaniel and trainer Nolan Halliburton. The people are “one of my favorite parts,” she explained. “After a race, the whole team is joyful and we go out to eat together. Everyone is all smiles and there is so much joy.”
