Cook it New shing show features
local chefs
story and photos by Kyle Johnson
It’s been a long week at work and you finally made it to the weekend. The weather looks great, you put a plan together, and get out on the water looking for that target fish. A few casts in and you feel a nice tug and it happens. All your worries are gone as you are fighting the elusive fish you set out to
get. You land what you have been thinking about all week and are headed home with the catch in the cooler. Question is, what to do now?
You may know the name Frank Wilem from the show Gulf South Outdoors that is shot right here in Mississippi. His new show, Hook it and Cook it, not only shows you how to catch your fish, but also how to cook it. “The concept behind Hook it and Cook it is, we go and catch a target species and then we come back to have one of the Coast chefs cook it for us,” Wilem says. Every chef on the show is from all the favorite restaurants along the Coast.
“We are encouraging our fans from not only Hook it and Cook it, but also Gulf South Outdoors, to submit recipes, photos, and videos. We will be starting a photo of the month that will be shown on a few episodes. Both shows are nationwide on CarbonTV, TuffTV, and reach 30 million households,” says Wilem. I don’t know about you, but there is no doubt I will be submitting photos to potentially reach that many people!
Frank is delivering another fun and unique show that, like his other one, is mostly filmed right here along
the Mississippi Coast. The whole first season of Hook
it and Cook it can be found on the Gulf South Outdoors YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/ GulfSouthOutdoors, and new episodes are uploaded on a regular basis on the YouTube channel.
Any local chefs who would like to be on the show, or fans who want to submit photos, can contact Frank at GulfSouthOutdoors@gmail.com. Hopefully next time after you hook it, you will deliciously cook it.
