At no cost to the Jackson County School District, Coastal Family Health Center is now providing no out-of-pocket cost health care to all students at East Central, St. Martin, and Vancleave schools. Services are also available to faculty and sta  with insurance co- pay. The federally quali ed health center has partnered with Moss Point and Greene County school districts for more than 20 years, operating four clinics within the Moss Point School District and  ve clinics within the Greene County School District.
“Coastal Family Health Center strives to meet the health care needs of the community,” says CEO Angel Greer. “If the opportunity to partner with other school districts should arise, Coastal welcomes the discussion.”
CARE
for all
Services provided at the school-based health centers include minor acute and chronic medical services, immunizations, and physical exams. A parental/guardian consent form must be signed for students to be seen by a provider, and the patient’s insurance will be billed if applicable. The school-based service clinics are sta ed with nurse practitioner-led medical teams. A dentist-led team o ers dental care to students and faculty at Greene County School District. Behavioral health services are included at Greene County and Moss Point school clinics and are made available
via telehealth for Jackson County School District. Tara Tillman, registered nurse, is the school-based health center program manager who oversees and coordinates services at all school-based sites.
Students are eligible for services at no-out-of pocket cost regardless of income and/or insurance status. Third-party insurance is billed for services as applicable and is deemed payment in full. Parents of students are not responsible for additional fees or co-pay.
“Coastal has a proven record of listening and adhering to the needs of the community we serve while staying true to our mission to provide quality comprehensive patient-centered care to the community regardless of one’s economic status,” Greer said. “Coastal has cultivated a program that spans six counties serving over 35,000 patients annually.”
Coastal Family Health Center was established under Back
Bay Mission in 1976 as a private, not-for-pro t corporation. It
has grown to be the fourth-largest community health center in Mississippi. “Coastal has remained true to its mission by focusing on the values of dignity, justice, service, excellence, and stewardship while simultaneously raising the standards in quality, service, innovation, integration, and technology,” Greer said.
