Summer camps are about having fun, meeting new people, and expanding knowledge and understanding. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) o ers camps that do it all, with exciting explorations into science, nature, culinary arts, sports and musical theatre.
“The great thing about the camps at Gulf Coast is they o er something for every young person,” said Dr. Terri Sasser, assistant dean of Teaching and Learning at the Jackson County Campus. “At the Jackson County Campus, we have camps that focus on swimming, robotics, the outdoors and chemistry. The Je erson Davis Campus has robotics and culinary camps. We o er tons of sports camps at the Perkinston Campus, as well as camps that focus on video-gaming competition, carpentry and performance arts.”
Two great camps for technology lovers o ered at the Perkinston Campus are the Dream It, Build It, Play It: Exploring the Video Game Industry camps for beginner and intermediate participants, and the MGCCC eSports and Leadership Camp. These camps will o er an opportunity for participants to understand what goes into creating their favorite games. They will learn advanced programming techniques in the intermediate camp, enhancing a game of their own design.
In the eSports camp, performance improvement will be the top priority,
but there will also be a strong emphasis
on personal growth and fun. Camp will include skill-development plans and training in League of Legends, Overwatch, Smite, Rocket League with Super Smash Bros, with Apex Legends and other games for fun. The week will conclude with
a summer showdown for the teams in attendance.

In the Culinary Camp at the Je erson Davis Campus, award-winning chefs will teach participants how to cook. Chef Todd Reilley, Culinary Arts program director
