“STAINED GLASS”
EARTH KIDS CRAFT
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
HOW TO MAKE IT:
• Twine
• Thin String
• Scissors
• Black Marker
• White School Glue • Cup
• Watercolors or Food Coloring • Plain Printer Paper
• Wax Paper
• Toothpick or Co ee Stirrer
• Round Household Items • Glitter (optional)
1) Using household items with a round base, draw some circles onto your paper in a variety of sizes. This will be your template for the earth shape!
2) Measure a piece of string to be slightly longer than the circumference of your
circle – you’ll want the string to overlap some.
3) Place a piece of wax paper over the template.
4) Add glue to your cup and saturate the string in glue.
5) Remove the string from the cup, removing excess glue with your ngers.
6) Lay the glue-covered string in the shape of a circle on top of your template. Make
sure the ends of the string overlap and are secured to each other.
7) Repeat and let dry! Once dry, add a loop
to the circle with some of the thin string so you can hang your nished product.
8) Once your strings have dried, it’s time for some fun! Fill a your string circle with
glue and add dots of blue and green dye. Don’t put too much or the nished product will be dark! To keep the colors light, we recommend leaving some white space, or using the dye sparingly.
9) Mix the color into the glue. If you’d like, now’s the time to add some glitter for some extra sparkle!
10) Leave the glue earths to dry. It’s humid down here, so this took a few days.
11) Carefully peel the stained glass earths from the wax paper. We had some glue escape from the rope circle, so we used our scissors to trim the excess.
12) All nished! Take your DIY stained glass earth outside and enjoy.
