Perk’s Coffee Shop & Cafe is the merging of two women’s dreams. Linda Lyon had always wanted to open a breakfast and lunch cafe,
and Mileah Lyon was inspired by a visit to a California restaurant that started out in one woman’s kitchen. Mileah discovered an ad for a coffee shop for sale in Downtown Gulfport and the two women, along with their husbands, purchased the business in January 2019.
Mileah said the lack of hands- on restaurant experience did not
scare either one of them because they had the confidence in their
own abilities and a drive to own
their own business. “We enjoy the freedom to create our own menus and express ourselves in the food and drinks we serve,” she said. “Being our own boss gives us the freedom to create something unique, fresh, and delicious.”
Two of Linda’s favorites on the menu are the chicken salad on a croissant and the hearty BLT, and Mileah relishes the specialty coffee
drinks. “When people taste our creations and like them, it makes us proud and grateful for this incredible journey,” Mileah said.
Perks Coffee Shop & Cafe is located at 2501 14th Street, Gulfport, and is a member of the Mississippi Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association.
