Two friends who met while students at St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis reunited in the restaurant business in Ocean Springs. Coast restaurateur Jordan Nicaud brought his friend Milton Joachim to be head chef at Charred a steak & oyster bar in Ocean Springs. Prior to that, Joachim spent some years in culinary school and working at some of the finest eateries in New Orleans.
Charred is a comfy spot that sits at 1019 Government Street, easily the hippest strip on the Coast. It has made
a name for itself serving some of the finest steaks in South Mississippi, steaks so good that Joachim and
his staff think they can go plate-to- plate with any steak house in the area. But what comes after steak and oysters, the namesake specialties at Charred? An entire menu of exciting, well-prepared food that’s unique to Charred.
My wife is a strict vegetarian, so she ordered the hummus. Yes, hummus can be pedestrian and “basic,” but there is nothing basic about the
