LETTERS to the editor
LETTER from the editor
April has arrived in South Mississippi in all its glory. It’s the month of Easter, Earth Day and spring break for students. Additionally, there are festivals, art shows and special events across the three coastal counties. A few that are highlighted in this month’s Coast Notes include the Pass Christian Boys & Girls Club Gala, Pascagoula’s Free Flowin’ on the Riverfront, and the Crawfish Music Festival at the Coast Coliseum. These things make us want to get outside now before the temperature goes higher.
It may seem early to decide on summer camps for children or look ahead to the next school year, but parents know
it’s best to make these decisions early. That’s why the Kids special section has a
list of summer
camps and
private schools. Our list of camps has options for every age and interest, and parents tell us it’s very helpful. One local public library even reports keeping a copy of the magazine on their main desk to show parents who come in.
There are other things in the Kids section too. You will find a cute, simple craft project to enjoy with children or grandchildren; advice on boosting children’s self esteem; and a story about a special little girl, Willow Cannan.
The Terrific Teens special section has been popular in the past and is back this month. It features seven local teenagers whose stories will amaze you. Their families and schools should be justifiably proud of them.
The People section is always about — well, people of course, and this month is no exception. We visit with a colorful Coast Character who bills himself as the Mad Potter of Bay St. Louis, and congratulate this year’s bevy of Gulf Coast Debutantes.
The big Keesler Air Show will take place in early May on the base and the Biloxi beachfront. You can read all about it in the Leisure section and make plans to attend.
