Well known certified public accountant Jerry Levens is the recipient of the 2017 Pat Santucci Spirit of the Coast Award. The award was presented at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting with a crowd of 600 attendees.
“Levens exemplifies the
Spirit of the Coast as a true servant,” said Adele Lyons, Chamber CEO. “He is a veteran business, professional and civic leader in South Mississippi
and works tirelessly for many organizations.”
Levens is a partner with the CPA firm of Alexander, Van Loon, Sloan, Levens & Favre, PLLC in Gulfport. He has served in leadership roles with the Infinity Science Center, Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau, Gulfport Kiwanis Club and
the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Biloxi.
Additionally, he served on the St. Thomas Pastoral Council and the Rebuilding Committee and was a member of the Gulf Coast Business Council’s inaugural Master’s Program.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Levens has held positions with the Mississippi Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs since 1979. In 1995, he received the Public Service Award for all CPAs in Mississippi. He earned the Certified Fraud Examiner designation in 2004 and Chartered Global Management Accountant status in 2014.
He has been an independent
director of Hancock Holding Company since 2009.
Jerry Levens is one of Mary and Gene Levens’ nine children. He and his wife, Cindy, are the parents of two sons, Jay and Andrew, and a daughter, Jenny, and the grandparents of four granddaughters.
The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in
the field of business. Anyone who is associated with a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or professional practice in the Harrison County area is eligible for nomination.
