HOME & GARDEN
Are you stumped to find a little extra room to stash stuff in your home that just doesn’t seem to go anywhere? Things that are constantly being moved from room to room, cabinet to cabinet, and barstool to counter to under the dining table just to get it out of the way. Perhaps it’s time to start thinking outside of that cluttered closet no one is allowed to open so you and your family can leap into spring with an organized, clutter-free home.
When it comes to space-saving ideas, every crevice, gap, notch, and cranny counts. Just like the space between the refrigerator and the wall. It’s small, dark, and cool, and
the perfect place for a slim, tall rolling cart that can hold everything from kitchen spices to arts and craft supplies. That should free up some counter space.
While we’re on the fridge, your freezer may look like it’s chock-full, but chances are it’s just a little cluttered. To bring a little space and order, try using binder clips to hang bags
of fruits and veggies from the freezer racks and free up space below for foods that are easier to stack to make the most of the freezer space.
You should also search for ways to maximize each and every inch of your house, so don’t overlook the backs of the doors. It’s easy to transform a bedroom or bathroom door into extra storage space. With a series of hooks, a bedroom door can become home to hats and beanies, sweaters and jackets, or belts and purses. Or use it as a tangle-free spot to drape your favorite, wear-almost-everyday necklaces and bracelets. In the bathroom, a shoe hanger on the back of the door can help mitigate under-the-sink storage by adding additional space for electric hair tools, brushes, and sprays. Think of the extra snooze time you’ll have when you don’t have to dig through drawers or cabinets each morning.

Another way to make your morning routine a little quicker is to add extra room in the bedroom closets and who wouldn’t get excited about more room in any wardrobe space? This easy, genius idea that's both budget and- recyclable-friendly will literally double your closet space. Simply bend the tab of a drink can or soup can and pull the tab up and down until the tab pops off. Loop the tab on a hanger and slide it down to the neck of the hanger. Then loop the second hanger through the other end of the tab, and voila – double or even triple the closet space.
And then there are the toys. Nothing can prepare you for the clutter that comes with a child. By the crack of dawn, there are already toys everywhere, slime dripping the walls, and multiple LEGO pieces embedded into your foot.
So, what's the solution when these little members of the household have scattered countless brightly colored toys from one end of the house to the other? Go high. Invest in wall shelves that can be placed out of reach to limit the number of toys strewn around the house. It allows for rotating toys and means they will play more purposefully. It also makes
a nice display
for your child’s
treasurers and is
easier to tidy up
at bedtime.
No matter what space-saving techniques you come up with, having a place for everything and everything in its place provides peace of mind
at the end of the day when you just want to kick back and relax.
