Chef David Dickensauge is one of those culinary masters who can create a buzz of social media excitement whenever people on the Coast know he’s about to open a new spot. I can assure you that 27th Avenue Bistro
by Chef David is the one of the
most talked about and Instagram-ed restaurants of the moment. There’s
a good reason for all of the hype — there’s something very special going on at 1310 27th Avene in Gulfport.
27th Avenue Bistro had a soft opening in mid-January. The word- of-mouth campaign hit the streets, with the question being, “Have you tried Chef David’s new place?” If you haven’t, you should. You really
should. It’s open for lunch and dinner and it features a different menu for both, so there are plenty of options available to try out Dickensauge’s imaginative Deep South fusion versus the world. Seriously. There are pickled collard greens and boudin and tasso and Andouille mixed with several different aolis and harrisa and five- spiced duck and hollandaise. It’s
new world southern cuisine with
an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients — a style that Dickensauge has mastered.
He has several ‘small plates’ on the dinner menu to get your meal started. The Creole devils on horseback is
