The La Pointe-Krebs House is not just historically important for Jackson County, it’s also significant for the state as a Mississippi Landmark and the state’s oldest structure. Built in 1757 and formerly known as the Old Spanish Fort, it is also the oldest confirmed building in the entire Mississippi Valley. The La Pointe-Krebs Foundation has worked tirelessly to renovate and maintain this building with the annual Fete La Pointe. This year a new fundraiser is being added — Cattails & Cocktails on March 30.
“While Fete La Pointe has served both the LPK Foundation and Jackson County Historical & Genealogical Society well, with respect to fundraising, we are still quite behind in the funds needed for further renovation,” says Gina P. Underwood, who is chairing both events. “We are adding a drawdown to our fundraising efforts at the first Cattails & Cocktails on Saturday, March 30, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., at the Pascagoula Country Club. Tickets are $25 per person.”
Underwood adds that there will also be food, drinks, a silent auction and raffles.
