As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, Coast Electric is governed by a set of principles known as the seven cooperative principles. The last principle, “Concern
for Community,” allows us to focus on improving our communities. Environmental stewardship is a core value at Coast Electric and is part of our mission to improve the quality of life for our members and future members and our employees and their families.
Each year, Coast Electric participates in several environmental initiatives. From Household Hazardous Waste collection days, Adopt-A-Highway clean-ups, to our partnerships and projects with Mississippi Power’s Renew Our Rivers program and The Land Trust of the Mississippi Coastal Plain, our employees volunteer countless hours each year protecting the environment. Each April, all of our offices “go green” with earth- themed decorations, education and member giveaways.
Coast Electric encourages South Mississippi residents to do whatever they can to use energy wisely and protect the environment. One easy way to manage energy use is to use efficient LED bulbs to light your home. To encourage members to use these efficient bulbs, LED and CFL bulbs can be brought into any office to be recycled properly. LED bulbs are not only more
environmentally friendly, they
are a simple
way to make energy efficiency upgrades in your home.
