LETTER from the editor
Is it spring yet? Not that we’ve had much of a winter around here, but we tend to feel rejuvenated with the coming of the month of March as grass turns green and flowers begin to bloom. There’ll also be the wearing o’ the green with St. Patrick’s Day parades and parties across the Coast. I’ll be involved with the Hibernia Marching Society’s parade on March 11 and will give a full report next month (well, maybe an abbreviated report).
The Coast Notes section is full of good stuff this month, including the Harrison County
Fairgrounds is on
a roll and bringing
top notch events to the area; the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild celebrates
50 years; Navy Week comes to town; and Art in the Pass presents its 20th festival.
In the People
section, we have
an interview with
the new director of
Beauvoir inviting
local residents to
discover this gem
of Southern charm
and beauty, and congratulate Coast business leaders who were honored with top CEO Awards from the Mississippi Business Journal.
As always, the Dining section will tantalize your taste buds with reviews of two restaurants, plus good news about two other dining establishments.
In Healthy Living we pose (and answer) the question, Is Spring Fever Real? Also, there’s an encouraging piece about what’s going on with colorectal cancer at Merit Health Biloxi.
It’s the time of year to think about home and garden, and that’s what we do in the Home & Garden special section. There’s a story offering hope to those with a black thumb; current home decorating trends
— including the Color of the Year selection; suggestions for home improvements; the ‘health’ of the local real estate market; and more.
And literally last — but most definitely not least — is The Final
Say, which we encourage you to read every month as it’s written by
a different member of the community. This month the guest writer is George Schloegel who outlines the activities of the Coast’s party of the century for Mississippi’s Bicentennial.

Every summer, I keep an issue of your South Mississippi Living summer camp issue at my desk. It is such a great reference for my families who visit the library. I would love for the library to be included in this issue and I can’t wait to get a copy.
