The Gulf Coast’s newest steak and seafood restaurant is on its way to becoming one of the area’s best. At Scarlet Grille, inside Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville, Southern classic dishes are given a contemporary twist.
The casual fine dining restaurant is
led by Chef Rob Davis, who came to the Coast last year from St. Louis, Missouri. Davis carefully selected the appetizers, salads and entrees. He says his goal is to not have a cookie cutter restaurant, but rather to bring fresh and new tastes to the area.
Davis loves the abundance of fresh seafood here and uses local produce and other goods from this region. Everything in the restaurant is made fresh in-house, including the gnocchi,
onion soup, roasted-garlic croutons and tangy horseradish sauce that comes with the prime rib.
That freshness comes through in every bite, starting with the appetizers. We enjoyed the jumbo lump crab cake
that was topped with a light crawfish cream sauce. The cake was loaded with big pieces of crab, and the sauce was teeming with crawfish tails. However, it was the seafood cocktail potpourri
— with two jumbo shrimp, two butter- poached lobster claws (shelled and ready to eat) and a dish filled with jumbo lump crab — that really stood out. The seafood was fresh, sweet and plentiful, and came with both cocktail sauce and a chive crème fresh.
