SUPERINTENDENT
Woman construction superintendent making her mark
Stacy Hardy is making a mark in a man’s world, and the accolades keep rolling in. Hardy is a construction superintendent for Adams Homes, a trade she first
learned from her former husband, who was a partner in LMR Homes
in Diamondhead. She observed and learned first-hand what it takes to build a quality home from the ground up.
Hardy has been with Adams Homes 14 years, but in the construction business for about 32 years. She has won numerous awards for building brick homes on schedule and within budget.
“Stacy has such a talent and an eye for quality construction. It’s obvious she loves the process and takes great pride in every house she builds,” said Adams Homes General Manager Roxanne Darby.
Sales Manager Debbie Whitfield
said, “Stacy does an awesome job.
She oversees the construction of
each and every home as if she were building it for her family. She has earned the respect of her peers and the subcontractors working on her jobs.”
What does a construction superintendent do? “Everything,” Hardy said. “We supervise the lot clearing, the pouring of the slab, the framing of the house. Once construction is underway, I work
with the numerous subcontractors to make sure the materials are ordered and available for the next phase of construction.”
She has supervised the building of brick homes ranging from 1,348 square feet to 3,000 square feet.
Hardy starts most days at 5:30 a.m. by going on site to check the progress of construction. After that, she goes to the office to confirm the schedule for the next day. Ten to 12-hour days are normal. “But I love it. These homes are my babies, and I ride herd on them from start to finish,” she said.
She estimates that once the house is framed in, it can be finished within two months. “Of course, the weather is

our biggest enemy,” said Hardy. “You just have to learn how to work around it.”
In her leisure time, Hardy enjoys spending time with her three grown children and five grandchildren. She also loves boating, fishing and travel.
Adams Homes was founded in Northwest Florida in 1991 and is celebrating 25 years of success.
Its markets now include Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, North Caroline, Georgia and Tennessee.
