History proves that fashion plays a huge role in our lives! We are all, whether we realize it or not, guided in so many ways by the latest fashion and color trends.
Fashion and retail have been a part of my life for a long time. I grew up in the colorful and vibrant city of New Orleans where my house, nestled in the heart of uptown, was painted lavender and my mother filled our small yard with colorful perennials and baskets of ferns. Hence, my love for color and fashion began.
My first summer job was at The Limited Express in Uptown Square. I loved it! I graduated from County Day and headed to Ole Miss. I received my Fashion Merchandising degree in 1994 and moved to the Coast, where I have been ever since.
I opened Sara Kate Boutique on Davis Avenue in Downtown Pass Christian in the spring of 2012 where I have had so much fun navigating through years of different fashion trends and inspiring women to feel and look their best. The Coast is the perfect place for color and fashion!
This spring and summer will not disappoint. Crisp white dresses paired with colorful, fun accessories will be a strong trend. Slightly more pastel than last year, color will still be
super important with chambray blue and coral tones trending heavily and pink remaining very popular. Maxi and midi dresses along with two-piece sets and elevated sportswear will be in abundance for this spring and summer.
Wide leg and “mom cut” jeans will remain strong this year with the skinny leg not completely gone but definitely harder
to find. 3D florals are a super fun trend and will be seen a lot this year with bow accents being shown on everything from handbags to jewelry and shoes as well as clothing. Also trending strong this year will be a low kitten heels with a pointed toe. And, of course, fashion sneakers are not going anywhere!
Having fun with fashion and color is key. Finding your personal style and building on it is the goal. As I always say, “look cute, feel cute!” It truly does make a difference when you love the way you look. It is so exciting and inspiring to have a client come out of the dressing room glowing because they have found the perfect outfit. When you look your best you feel your best, and when you feel your best, you are your best!
2024 will prove to be another fabulous year full of crisp whites as well as color, which is perfect for our coastal lifestyle. What a time to be alive!
