Guin walks with the aid of arm crutch- es. When hunting, she uses a motorized chair with mud tires, but wants a tracked chair. To re the gun, she uses an iScope attached to the scope on her ri e. All with her smart phone, Guin can zoom in and out and put the crosshairs where she wants to shoot. In 2020, she also started hunting with a crossbow.
“The outdoors brings out the best in her,” Long comments. “She does not let fatigue or anything stop her. When
she’s in the great outdoors, she’s in her element. She’s in God’s country and it’s a totally di erent feeling for her to be out there. It’s worth it for her to get out there and enjoy just being in the outdoors and seeing the sunrises and sunsets. She pushes herself a lot more when she’s doing something she absolutely loves than if she’s just sitting around.”
Next on her bucket list, Guin wants to hunt moose and bear. She plans to attend college in the fall and maybe work at a
hunting camp in the future where she can be a role model for others with disabili- ties, particularly youngsters.
“When I go to hunting camps, I love the camaraderie best,” Guin says. “I love go- ing to all the other hunts and seeing other kids with disabilities like mine. I can relate to them. I just don’t let anything stop me. If I fall down, I just get back up and keep on ticking.”
