COAST NOTE
“Que le bon porches roule!” or “Let the good porches roll!” is the catchphrase of the new Krewe of Porches.
The Ocean Springs Krewe of Porches are inviting residents and businesses to decorate their porches and storefronts to celebrate the Mardi Gras season. Visitors and Ocean Springs residents will then make their own parade route through the city to check out the various decorated porches.
The event, which was thought of by Heather Denison, will be supporting the arts. Krewe of Porches is a partnership between the Friends of Art, Culture & Education (FACE), Historic Ocean Springs Association, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, the Public Art Project of Ocean Springs, and the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. All registration donations will go to art scholarships for children through the Walter Anderson Museum of Art and FACE.
All participating porches will have a yard sign and will be included on an interactive map so that they are easily found. The public will then be able to vote on their favorite porches through social media.
Registration lasts until Monday, February 8, and voting will take place February 9-16. You can register online.

The 33rd annual Arbor Day Run/Walk/Roll will be taking place on Saturday, February 20 at the Biloxi Town Green. Registration and sign in starts at 8 a.m.
Disability Connection began this event to promote healthy lifestyles, provide information on disability support services, and encourage people with disabilities to be active in their community. Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be two di erent options for the Arbor Day Run/Walk/Roll this year. The rst option is their normal run/walk/roll (while following CDC COVID-19 guidelines), happening on February 20. The second option is an event at a school or optional walking track, which can be scheduled individually or as a group.
All registration is through the Gulf Coast Running Club, and you can register online, via the mail, or at the event. All participants get a t-shirt. For more information, you can visit Disability Connection’s website or Facebook page, or call them.
People of all ages and abilities are invited to join in!
