Cli Horne has been making brides and other clients happy with his custom designed jewelry for 28 years. He started work at Parris Jewelers in Hattiesburg in 1993, but his inclination to be a jeweler goes back further than that.
“My grandfather was a watch maker
for more than 40 years in Yazoo City; that’s where the interest started,” he says. “In my own work, I take my inspiration from my customers. I spend time listening to each of them and get a feel for what they’re looking for. Then I can help guide them to the nished product.” The nished product is what counts and recent bride Leslie Suit is satis ed. “I chose Cli Horne to make my wedding ring set because of his extensive knowledge and years of experience in
the jewelry business,” she said. “He
takes great pride in his work, pays close attention to detail, and the customer service is excellent.” Peyton Swaggerty is another satis ed customer. “After seeing Cli ’s amazing work, I knew I
wanted him to design my engagement ring,” she says. “He made my fairy tale ring become a reality. I am obsessed with my ring, and I get endless comments about how stunning it is.”
But Horne’s business is not just about wedding rings. In his career he has made every type of jewelry. “Last year I made rings and charms from a ngerprint,” he recalls. “I made a man’s bracelet by hand from gold jewelry left to my customer from his deceased father. Heck, I had a customer who was a computer scientist, and he had me make a pair of earrings from a computer circuit board.”
In the beginning Horne worked in a home studio. After purchasing a building last spring, Horne Custom Jewelry opened in July 2020. “Now this is a full-time job,” he says. “Before that, when I worked from my studio at home, I was able to make time for shing when the sh were biting. Needless to say, I have not been shing in quite a while but it’s so worth it.”
