DESIGN TRENDS

Seasons change and so do wedding trends. Aside from the obvious seasonal nature of flowers and greenery, trends play a big role in what brides are ordering for their weddings.
Rachel Bond, owner of Pine Hills Floral Designs is already seeing
a shift in floral designs for 2020. “Large statement pieces, especially hanging designs and greenery
walls are very popular, as are dried flowers, pampas grass plumes and bleached foliage,” she says. “These accents are all about creating a unique and often bold look that helps the wedding to be both personalized and stand out from the rest.”
While it’s easy to start with a vision of eye-catching centerpieces, Bond says that it’s important to keep the overall look and color scheme of the wedding in mind. “When coming
to a consultation, photos of your dress, bridal party and tablescape inspiration are helpful to show your florist the look and feel you’re wanting to create. Your florist can offer suggestions for flowers and
foliages to complement your style based on what is in season.”
It can be easy for brides to get caught up in the trends, trying
to incorporate every single idea into this one special day, but Bond advocates for simplicity. “Choose a style and colors that you like and stick with it throughout the ceremony and reception,” she says. There are endless options, but choose your look and keep it cohesive. This will help keep you from being overwhelmed by the possibilities.”
For those looking to get into floral design themselves, Bond offers monthly Snip & Sip classes, each with a different theme. “Most classes are $50, and participants will learn the names of the flowers, design techniques and proper care of fresh flowers,” she says. “We have a lot of fun! Private classes of 10 people or more are also available.”
Class admission can be purchased through Eventbrite and upcoming dates are announced on the Snip & Sip Instagram page, @snipandsipfloral, and on Facebook.
