ROMANCE & WEDDING think ahead
Pre-Wedding Skincare
SHOULD BEGIN EARLY

“The number one thing that brides seem to neglect leading up to the wedding is themselves, specifically their skin,” says Amy Parker, licensed aesthetician at Modern Dermatology & Aesthetics Gulfport. “Do not wait until the last minute to think about your skin. The longer you have to correct skin issues, the better.”
Some of the most common concerns that Parker hears from brides are regarding dark spots or discolorations, uneven skin tone, fine lines, acne and large pores. “These are just a few common skincare concerns,” she said. “These don’t happen overnight, nor can they be fixed overnight.”
Prevention is always the best route, which is why Parker recommends wearing broad spectrum sunscreen daily. To treat pre-existing concerns, she says brides should schedule an appointment with a dermatologist
at least six months prior to the wedding.

day,” Parker said. “Many people think that they don’t have the time or money to invest in skincare, but you would be surprised at how many treatment options are available that don’t break the bank.”
Facials are one of the most effective
ways to achieve healthy skin on a budget, and these can be tailored to fit your particular skincare needs. At home skincare regimens are also an important part of the process.
“At the end of the day it’s all about skin maintenance,” Parker said. Eating healthy and drinking plenty of water can make all the difference. Most importantly, create an at- home regimen and stick to it. In the weeks leading up to your wedding, it’s important not to try any new products — this includes skincare, hair products, makeup and even detergents! Any new product could cause a reaction, which could take weeks to calm down.”
Lastly, let’s talk about stress. It’s easier said than done, but keeping stress at bay is an integral part of keeping a clear complexion. Stress can cause inflammation and acne, so be sure to take some time out for yourself to relax.
