ROMANCE & WEDDING cheers for the years

edding anniversaries are special occasions that couples celebrate in different ways. Often, a romantic dinner at home or in a restaurant is involved. It might be a nostalgic anniversary by
re-visiting the place where the couple met or where the proposal took place. Another idea is to buy an anniversary gift together that serves as a keepsake.
Two Biloxi couples say trips are their favorite way to observe anniversaries, especially the milestone years.
Rich and Suzy Moss
Rich and Suzy Moss traveled to Venice, Italy, to mark their 10th anniversary. “We celebrated with Italian wines and a few Compari Spritzers,” Suzy said. “This year will be our 11th anniversary and we will be in Tel Aviv to celebrate, traveling around Israel with some good friends who will help us to navigate through Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Galilee. “
One of these friends was a member of the original Israeli army. “We
are certainly looking forward to experiencing the area in a way that will be enhanced by our friend’s firsthand knowledge,” Suzy adds. “We will also be visiting a local winery and, of course, sharing some Israeli wines and perhaps some more Compari Spritzers.”
Those friends are Viki and Mike Yaron, who celebrated their 18th
wedding anniversary last October
at a resort in Playa del Rey, Mexico,
at a restaurant with 10 friends. “It
was wonderful,” Viki says. “We were married on the beach in Maui, and that has kind of set the tone for our anniversary celebrations; we like to go somewhere.”
One of their favorite celebrations included 20 of Mike’s family and old friends in a cozy restaurant in Tel Aviv. “It was a manic conversation in Hebrew and English, with lots of

wine! La Chaim!” she added.
The Mosses met locally when Rich,
who was Commander of the Hurricane Hunters at Keesler, spoke to a meeting that Suzy attended. “I was interested in what he had to say since I lost my house in Katrina and was rebuilding on the beach,” she recalls. “He was quite informative, of course, but he also had the best sense of humor I had witnessed when he responded to my
question about the biodegradability of the Drop Sons that are used when the Hurricane Hunters gather information during a hurricane.
“He said they send little men in
little boats to retrieve the non- biodegradable parts. I quickly answered that I wanted to apply for that job. He was somewhat speechless, but we later married when I proposed marriage because I needed insurance, and we’ve lived happily ever after, and so it goes...”
The Yarons met in a bar in Long Beach, California, where both lived
at the time. “My mother was visiting from Laurel, Mississippi, and we decided to go to this restaurant for dinner because it was swing dance night at the bar,” Viki recalls. “Mike was by far the best dancer in the place, and my mom goaded me to ask him to dance. I did, and the rest is history.”
