“I met my in-laws for the first time after three months of dating my now husband. It was Mardi Gras and I
just found out I was pregnant. Very awkward meeting them for the first time and sharing that kind of news, but here we are four years later.”

“I met my mother-in-law at the airport. She expected her son back from a three-year deployment to the Philippines and he promised to bring his Philippine housekeeper with him. I didn’t know about that, so her first words to me were ‘you must be the maid.’ I was totally perplexed, but her son, now my husband of 28 years, did clear that up.”

“Our first meeting was awkward. I pulled up to their house and my kids, three and fi at the time, insisted on climbing out of the window and onto the roof of my car — all while I was trying to tell my future in-laws how calm and well-behaved
my boys were. Thankfully just two days later we had a more respectable meeting at my husband’s college graduation.”

“My husband’s father passed away on our first date. We really liked each other and so he actually asked if I would come to the funeral and be by his side. Of course I said I would and joined him that next weekend. The moment I met his aunt she said she could feel strong love between us and that she was just going to guess we would get married. I
met all his family that one day at the funeral. Definitely not your traditional story. My husband always says he feels like God
took his dad away, but he was immediately blessed with me. We have been together eight years and married for almost five.”

“I moved in across the street from my future in-laws when my husband-to-be was a senior and I was a freshman in high school. His mother didn’t like me; I was a very smart mouthed 16 year old. She never thought we’d date, much less get married in four years. We’ve been married for 39 years, and she likes me now.”
