Catering Creations is able to provide whatever cuisine clients for weddings and other special events want, thanks to the talented staff and the training and experience of owner/chef Rob Stinson. As part of the Stinson Group, they are the official caterer for Grasslawn Historic Mansion but also cater to other locations, including homes. Catering Creations provides everything needed for events — planning, food, dishes and servers.
“When I sit down with a family to find out what they want, there’s really nothing I can’t do due to my background,” Stinson said. “We have a whole variety of set menu items but can do whatever anyone wants. We’re very diverse.”
In addition to catering at various venues, Catering
Creations can cater inside Salute Italian Seafood Restaurant for parties, rehearsal dinners, bridal
showers and other celebrations.
As for
wedding receptions, these caterers would like as much notice as possible, but Stinson stresses that they’re capable of executing successful events in short time spans. “Sometimes circumstances cause
us to have to hasten preparations for events and we’re able to do it,” he said. “With military weddings, plans sometimes change and that’s understandable. We have a huge military presence here and are happy to accommodate them.”
Along with Catering Creations and Salute, the Stinson Group includes The Reef, Baja Beach, and Kelly’s Sports Pub. Stinson had 20 years of experience — including catering — in New Orleans before opening his first Coast restaurant, Lookout, in Long Beach 15 years ago. “I always did some catering, but it really kicked into high gear after Hurricane Katrina,” he said. “To cater effectively,
one must have a dedicated staff
able to adapt to any situation and celebration on a culinary and service
level. We have such a staff.”
Stinson trained with Cordon Bleu chef Gerald Thabuis, former personal chef of
the president of France, and has garde manger, saucier and sauted experience. Other training was under master Italian
