LETTERS to the editor
LETTER from the editor
It’s February, a month full of activities and promise in South Mississippi. The promise of Spring and warm weather is especially appealing this year as we hopefully have put the cold weather behind us.
Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day (also Ash Wednesday this year) are back to back. Traditionally, lots of couples become engaged on February 14 and begin those all-important wedding plans. Along with the generous sponsors, we’re happy to present South Mississippi Living’s fifth Wedding and Romance special section.
Lynn Lofton, South Mississippi Living editor, and Ashley Page, senior stylist at the Chuck Kelly Salon.
I wanted to thank you for featuring Peter Rubardt in “The Final Say” for January.
It’s great exposure for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra and I have already heard many good comments from people in the community. Thanks!

This big section has
a lot of helpful information and good reading, including tips
on making gracious reception toasts and an updated wedding check list. The story about the Rusch family wedding dress that has been worn for generations is amazing. Then there’s the piece about things that go wrong at weddings — those oops moments that those attending the ceremony usually do not detect but
give the bride and groom humorous memories to go along with the poignant ones. On the romance side, we have some great suggestions for fun dates throughout the Coast, and a story that explores the interesting philosophy that men are from Mars and women from Venus.
The Final Say was written this month by Carole Lynn Meadows, a lady who needs no introduction. She has a few tips about staying married based on her 58-year marriage to attorney Joe Meadows.
Remember the 4-H Clubs? I must admit I didn’t realize they’re still active, but I think it’s wonderful that they are. We have a story in the People section that highlights the leadership training and other skills Coast young people are getting through these clubs.
If you haven’t heard of geocaching, Frank Wilem explains it in his piece in the Sports & Outdoors section. It’s a way to get the family outside for fun, inexpensive activities.
