FSpecializing in big, bold flowers
lowers provide beautiful focal points for weddings. The designers at the Lemon Tree Flower Shop want to make every bride’s dream come true with the perfect floral arrangements, pew markers, bouquets, cake flowers and any other requests.
Owner Chris Owens says there’s no such thing as specific wedding flowers for certain times of the year. “Any type
flowers and any colors can be used any time,” he said. “Now we’re seeing shades of yellow and orange used in the spring as well as in the fall. It’s whatever the bride wants.”
He sees a lot of peonies and tropical flowers used for local weddings. “They’re popular, and we specialize in tropicals and exotic flowers,” he added, “but not little roundy moundy floral designs. We like bold flowers.”
Personalizing flowers is always a possibility with the Lemon Tree. Owens worked some jewels that had special meaning to the bride into her wedding bouquet. “We strive for something different,” he said, “and we like to make brides happy.”
One of Owens’ weddings was recently featured in Southern Living magazine.
A three-week advance notice, he says, is enough time for brides to choose flowers. That’s enough time for the shop to receive shipments of any kind of flowers.
The Lemon Tree is not just about weddings. The three designers work hard to make everything they do special, putting their hearts into what they do throughout the year. “We provide quality flowers and can get anything customers want,” Owens, who’s been in the business 31 years, said. “We pride ourselves on 90 centimeter roses with three to three-and-a- half-foot stems. We like bigger, fuller blooms and are not afraid to use big flowers.”
With a service area from Ocean Springs to Bay St. Louis, the shop stays busy. They do approximately 120 stems of Oriental lilies and 300 roses every week. “If we’re on a roll, we get flowers every day,” Owens said. “One time, the delivery truck just backed up to the door and parked for us to use all the flowers we needed.”
