Spreading fluffy joy with cotton candy
story by Lynn Lofton photo by Teddy Lewis
There’s something fun about cotton candy that appeals to all ages. Narissa
Behrens of Gulfport wants to spread that
tasty joy with her portable business, Cotton
Candy, Anchored in Fluffy Sweetness & More, LLC.
She started in October 2015 with a candy cart designed and built by her friend Mark Spain. “I took it to the grand opening of a children’s clinic in Hattiesburg, and then I took it to the Harbor Lights Festival in Gulfport, which was fantastic,” Behrens said. “We want people to smile and
think ‘those people really care.’ We encouraged families to take photos in front of the cart.”
Behrens is open to taking the cotton candy cart to all types of events within a 200-mile radius of Gulfport and can decorate to fit all occasions.

She has commercial grade cotton candy machines with protective domes. The candy is served on decorative paper straws and/or white cones and includes moist towelettes to wipe sticky hands.
Popular flavors include banana, raspberry, chocolate, grape, green apple, pina colada, and pink vanilla. “If your mouth is watering for another flavor, let us know,” Behrens said. “We will try our best to fulfill your request.”

The 24,620-square-foot Center is one
of the last projects to be completed from funding provided by the bond issue for capital improvements approved in 2012. It seats 850, has a catering kitchen, a 4,000-square-foot stage, dressing rooms, scene shop, and lobby with gallery style hanging system.
