LETTER from the editor
It’s February and romance is in the air, plus a lot of exciting events in South Mississippi. It’s the month for Valentine’s Day, a national focus on women’s heart issues, Mardi Gras, and last but certainly not least — our third romance and wedding edition.
We have an eye-catching bridal cover that’s sure to whet appetites for the stories and ads in this special section. It’s a real go-to section with inspiration and practical advice to help plan the big day. There’s even a story about the first
wedding held at the Shuckers’ Stadium in Biloxi.
Attention is given
to matters of the
heart in February as
the American Heart
Association focuses
on educating women
with their Go Red
for Women luncheon
set for Feb.19. Check
out the piece about
American Medical
Response in this
section. They have
some impressive
statistics about why
it’s good to live here
when there are heart
problems. We include some tips for a healthy heart in this section, and have some heart healthy recipes in the Dining section.
We have Mardi Gras season covered with stories in Coast Notes and the Leisure section, along with a list of parades in Leisure and in the Calendar section. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is honored by having its carnival season listed as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2016 by the American Bus Association. The list was published as a supplement in the organization’s Destinations magazine.
We always hope the stories in the Healthy Living section have helpful information. This month is no exception with a piece that explains what our gall bladders do and why they sometimes must come out. Also, ever wondered what it’s like to be a vegetarian or a vegan in the meat-crazy South? Some Coast residents tell their stories in this section.

We can’t say thank you enough for being a part of Margaret’s retirement event. Your contribution helped to make the community event possible and it most definitely warmed her heart to know you all were there for her!

We wanted to thank you for publishing that really nice article on Amanda. We have kept several copies and the article will be shared and treasured by our family members. It is amazing how many people that we know read the article and told us how “cool” it was. Thanks again.
