In partnership with
the Mississippi Public
Health Institute, Coastal
is working collaboratively
with clinics, drug
treatment programs, and
other health care providers
to improve the treatment
referral process for
pregnant and parenting
women with a substance
use disorder. The Referral
Enhancement Pilot
Study aims to link these pregnant and parenting mothers to suitable drug treatment programs and reduce the number of unresolved referrals through data collection and support strategies.
Coastal brings additional, comprehensive care, including women’s
health services. In partnership with Mississippi Public Health Institute
and Babyscripts, Coastal will offer remote blood pressure monitoring and digital education for high-risk OB patients to improve maternal health outcomes and reduce maternal health inequities. The Women, Infants, and Children’s (WIC) nutritional program funded by the Mississippi State Department of Health is offered at all clinic locations. This program assists low-income mothers and children with food, health care, education, and additional assistance until their child is five years old.
Coastal strives for excellence in providing services that include family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, dental care, optometry, healthcare for the homeless, HIV care which includes the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program, and PrEP HIV prevention service. Coastal’s outreach program and mobile unit increase access to care for those in most need. The mobile medical unit assists with HIV rapid testing, flu shots, wellness checks, physicals, and immunizations.
Since February 2021, the outreach team has administered over 4,000 COVID-19 vaccines. Chronic care coordinators are available for patients with hypertension and/or diabetes. In partnership with DarioHealth, Coastal patients are offered a remote patient monitoring blood pressure cup at no out-of-pocket cost. The blood pressure cup records and
tracks blood pressure levels between appointments, giving providers a comprehensive overview of the patient’s medical records. In the last six months, over 1,000 monitors were prescribed. Coastal’s school-based services provide healthcare to Moss Point School District, Jackson County School District, and Greene County School district at no out-of-pocket cost.
