2020 found us turning back to a simpler lifestyle out of necessity. There were months when we found ourselves with a less busy schedule than usual. With more at-home family time, we returned to some of the simple activities that had gotten lost in the shu e before the pandemic. Puzzle sales skyrocketed. Bicycles were backordered for months. And family walks were in vogue again. Mom wasn’t the only one in the kitchen anymore. Butter sales increased 20 percent this year with everyone in the family experimenting with new recipes. Eating out will always be a treat but eating in is cool again.
Create a Sanctuary at Home
Our home took on an even greater signi cance than usual this year. More than just where we sleep and eat, in record numbers it became where we work and teach our children.
But our home is also where we seek peace and healing. We need
a sanctuary, a place of beauty and serenity. The trend towards designing and decorating for comfort will remain strong as we move ahead into 2021. Form, function, and artistic quality will be important factors in our decision making as we continue to look for what makes us happy and keeps us healthy.
The past year has been a challenging one but it also o ered opportunities to strengthen our families and our communities. We believe the trends we have seen this year will always be good ideas. We wish everyone peace and happiness as we turn the corner and look ahead to a fresh new year. No matter what it brings us, we can handle it as long as we breathe, keep it simple, and surround ourselves with good people.
