Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast builds and rehabilitates a ordable housing for
hardworking families across the Gulf Coast. The homes are built by volunteers as well as Habitat homeowners, and are paid for through donations to Habitat and the mortgages of Habitat homeowners.
Women Build, a special project wherein local women come together to donate their time and skills to
build homes for those less fortunate, was postponed for 2020 due to the pandemic. “While Women Build 2020 may not have happened as planned, the individuals, corporations and foundations in our community have raised more than $110,000 to help provide a safe, a ordable home for a local family. 129 Women Build participants attended our wall signing day to leave their messages of support and love within the walls of the
home,” said Lindsay Avery, director of resource development.
While this year’s Women Build project looked di erent than it has in years past, the community still pulled together to show support for a local family, building them a new home
in Gautier. “A special thank you to
our sponsors IP Casino Resort Spa, Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort, Navigator Credit Union and Boomtown Casino Biloxi. We hope for the home to be completed by the end of the year,” said Avery.
ReStore, Habitat for Humanity’s
nonpro t home improvement
outlet opened up its second Restore location in Ocean Springs this year. “The ReStores sell new and gently used furniture, building materials, appliances and home décor to the public at a discounted price,” said Avery. “The proceeds from the sales at the ReStores support Habitat’s mission on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
To help support the cause, consider volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity job site or donating items to ReStore.
