“ I look
forward
to helping
to tell the
stories of the
people of th”e
Coast.
Iwas honored when I was asked by Michael and Mary Sunderman to become
a contributing writer for South Mississippi Living magazine. In a way, it’s my life coming full circle on the Mississippi Gulf
Coast as I wrote, briefly, for the magazine when I moved here with my family in 2015.
After about 20 years in traditional and digital media, I recently decided to make a major career change. I may have moved on from the day-to- day hustle of modern journalism, but I had no intentions of retiring from writing, especially writing about entertainment and food, which is what I will be sharing with you.
I am very humbled by the career which has allowed me to interview people whom I admire such as Ringo Starr and the late David Halberstam, who won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1964.
But as proud as I am of my career, nothing brings me greater joy in my life than my family. My wife, Dayna, is a sweet and gentle soul who teaches students with some special needs at Pass Christian High School. She’s a very humble person and she would never brag on herself, so I’ll do it for her.
She was named Pass High Teacher of the Year and Pass Christian School District Teacher of the Year. To use a superlative, she’s the best at what she does. We have one child, Charlie. He will turn three this month. I love being a dad. It is the one thing in my life at which I truly want to excel.
My other passion in life is music. I love music. From the first time I heard “Band on The Run” by Paul McCartney and Wings when I was probably four, it has been my life. And Charlie shares that same passion, at least for now.
I look forward to helping to tell the stories of the people of the Coast. This is my home and there’s no place in which I would rather live.
