Whatever you celebrate, we send Season’s Greetings. It’s hard to believe we’re bringing another year to a close, but here it is and it’s time to be merry.

In the spirit of the season, this month’s special section is Giving Back, complete with a lengthy list of local non-profit organizations who will welcome your donations of volunteer
time and funds. Many of them are especially stressed during this month as they try to meet the needs of
the community. The guide can also serve throughout the year when you need information about a group you’d like to contact. Generous advertising sponsors make this section possible. In addition to

There are two special stories in the Sports & Outdoors section that connect to the Giving Back theme. A.J. Giardina writes about a young veteran who is being assisted at a local gym by a representative of the Wounded Warrior Project. Frank Wilem reports on a wonderful hunting event that gets special needs children outdoors.
Got a gift to wrap quickly and have no box? No worries. There are easy instructions on how to make a gift bag out of wrapping paper in the Leisure section.
In the People section, retired Ingalls executive Debbie McCallam expresses her warm and friendly thoughts on being Jewish at Christmas.
New writer and food columnist Jeff Clark is introduced in the Dining section. A long time journalist, he’s written for us in the past and we welcome him back. Also in this section — and of interest to everyone — we feature recipes and photos of yummy holiday treats. Plus, there are the restaurant reviews we know you depend on to make decisions about dining out around the area.
The Healthy Living section always has information you need to know. This month learn about the new options available to replace missing teeth, get the scoop on flu shots (it’s not too late!) and gain some good tips on how to enjoy the season without over indulging.
