Instead of heading to large retailers or purchasing items online, the Hancock Chamber says you can promote your local retailers and support vital government services such as fire and police protection by purchasing gifts close to home.
One study shows that for every dollar spent locally more than 60 cents remains in the community through taxes, payroll and other subsidies. Studies also show that 80 percent of consumers are more likely to buy products from businesses that are members of the local Chamber of Commerce.
“When you shop local with members of the Chamber of Commerce, you will also find those unique gifts no large retailer can offer,” said Tish Williams, executive director of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce. “People do business with those they know and trust.”
She added, “Being a member of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce is an investment in the future of your business and is the perfect way to build stronger relationships in the community, promote your business, gain greater access to business contacts, enhance exposure for your business, and ensure representation on local, state and federal issues.”
