“The goal is to know what your dreams are,” Ardis said. “What do you want to do in retirement and how do we make sure that you can do that? Then, how do we pass that to the next generation.”
Ardis has been a financial advisor since 2006 with a strong focus on retirement and investment planning. She started her practice Agape Wealth earlier this year and has also included an emphasis on faith and family. “I want Agape Wealth to focus on those aspects and not just
the number of people we bring in,” she said. “I want to build quality relationships between our clients and the firm.”
She said a purpose-driven retirement plan is all about finding meaning and fulfillment in your post-work years. “It's about going beyond just relaxing and enjoying leisure time, and instead, actively seeking out activities and pursuits that align with your values and passions,” Ardis said. “It's about finding a sense of purpose and making a positive impact in your own life and the lives of others and discovering what truly brings you joy and fulfillment.”
That can be done by aligning retirement strategies with passions and values such as volunteering in the community or various avenues of learning, like taking classes, attending workshops, or even pursuing online courses. “Finding your passion in retirement can be an exciting journey,” she said. “Reflect on your past experiences and think about what made you feel most alive and fulfilled. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Remember, retirement is a time to discover and pursue what truly makes you happy.”
Setting goals and creating ways to achieve them are also exciting ways to stay motivated and embrace this new chapter in your life. “Whether it's learning a new skill, traveling to new places, or spending more time with loved ones, set specific and achievable goals that align with your passions and interests,” she said. “Dream big and go after what makes you happy.”
She added that clients also become family members to everyone at Agape Wealth. “We sit down with you and get to know you,” she said. “We take all of our clients to dinner and it's just more of a personalized experience. It’s really just people understanding the importance of finding somebody that's a good fit for them and that they're comfortable and they don’t just feel like another number in the crowd.”
And she recently finished writing the book Simplified Strategies for Retirees, which will be available soon. The book is loaded with tips for IRA rollovers, tax planning, asset preservation, wealth management, and legacy planning. “The main focus is how do we get there and how do we make sure that we make it through without running out of money,” she said. “We want our clients to have active, fulfilling lives that make their retirement years the best years of their life.”
