What’s better than writing a dining review about a great, local restaurant? Writing a dining review about one of your favorite great, local restaurants. Many of my reviews have been hammered out after inspiration from a warm cup of delicious coffee. So, it only made sense to cover the place that has served as the backdrop for many of my epicurean delights: Jacked Up Coffee Bar in Biloxi.
Celebrating its five years in Biloxi, Jacked Up is the brainchild of entrepreneur and self-proclaimed foodie Dixie Newman. What started as an idea for a small coffee shop ballooned into a downtown staple and a go-to spot for a truly unique coffee experience.
Jacked Up has an incredibly eclectic selection of coffees and teas. One of Newman’s goals was for the customer to have a true barista experience with each cup of coffee being brewed and prepared to order. Featuring New Orleans brand French Truck Coffee, Jacked Up’s selections are elevated starting with double shots in each drink and only going up from there.
The New Orleans Iced Coffee is a personal favorite, as well as a signature Jacked Up drink. But you really can’t go wrong with anything from the Oji Drip
Iced Coffee to a Café Au Lait to a simple double shot. Even the Matcha Latte with lavender is amazing. Everyone at Jacked Up is incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, so no need to be intimidated if this is your first time stepping out of your black coffee comfort zone.
Your initial visit to Jacked Up may have centered around their coffee, but you will soon realize that their food menu will keep you coming back again and again. Newman’s deep love for all things brunch was the initial motivation for Jacked Up’s menu, which features the perfect selection of breakfast and lunch items.
I’ve been a dedicated fan of the Loaded Avocado Toast for some time now. Two pieces of “Everything Seasoned” toast
are lathered with cream cheese, feta, avocado mash, sliced tomatoes and house chimichurri. Newman boasts that each layer adds its own special flavor and that the Loaded Avocado Toast wouldn’t be the same without every single ingredient.
The Spicy Chicken Egg Biscuit is another Jacked Up signature showcasing two biscuits topped with hand-battered chicken tenders, scrambled eggs and house, spicy honey. Grab a fork for this incredibly indulgent breakfast treat.
