The Best Years of
any people believe that great love stories only happen early in life. Stories like
childhood friends that end up together by their teens, high school sweethearts, and finding “the one” in college.
This is not always the case. Gulfport couple Lisa and Mark Davis have
known each other for over 30 years both professionally (Lisa is a real estate agent and Mark is an attorney) and thanks to their combined five children. It wasn’t until they bumped into each other in 2017 that their love story began.
Now, they can’t imagine spending a day without each other. They love their home life more than
anything. “Whether
it’s early morning
coffee on the veranda, a neighborhood golf cart
ride, working in the yard,
or entertaining friends and family, home is definitely where our heart is!” they say.
However, they also enjoy their time away from home by visiting their favorite spots on 30A in Florida, game days in Oxford, or visiting one of their children in Atlanta, Nashville, or Charlotte. They love to travel!
While Lisa and Mark learned that they had much in common, shortly after they started dating, they found out something unique – their mothers shared the same maiden name! The couple took it as a sign that they were meant to be together.
Mark loves showing his love and affection for Lisa. “Until the pandemic, he wrote text messages expressing his love for me every day from his office,” she recounts. “Even now, at home together, he still sends messages – even when we’re in
the same room!” It’s the little things that mean the most to this couple. “The messages still make my heart soar.”
Mark also tends to rent billboards near their house to celebrate their anniversary and Lisa’s birthday. He also has a bumper sticker that proudly reads “I love my wife.”
Their philosophy about life and love is simple: “Stay
active. Stay involved. Laugh often. Love well,
and love with all your heart. Appreciate each day. Everyone needs to
understand that your golden years can be the best years
of your life.” Lisa and Mark certainly think so.
