decorations, thinking about a Christmas tree, and putting up the outside lights.
Enjoy unpacking the ornaments and take some time to remember where they came
from. Reminisce about
Christmases past. Did
anyone else have a
grandmother or relative
with a silver metallic tree
and a color wheel? How
about a green ceramic tree that lights from the inside with colored bulbs at the tips of all the branches? If you inherited family ornaments you don’t want to put on your tree, put them in a bowl and enjoy them on the dining room table.
The trend of using natural materials to decorate continues. Magnolia leaves look good with any décor and the cuttings
o the bottom of your Christmas tree will spruce up any tabletop display. If you’ve made the jump to an arti cial tree,
head to the back yard for some greenery. Add greens to your manger display, add them around a grouping of candlesticks, or mix them in with that bowl of old ornaments. For a coastal vibe, add some shell ornaments, decorated oysters, or driftwood trees and creches.
We love mixing old and new decorations. Pair items in the same color family together and unify it all with the same beautiful ribbon on everything. Red and green will never go out of style and touches of black and white or silver
and gold can easily be thrown into the mix for a splash of style.
A wreath on the front door is still the focal point of your home’s exterior display. Light
it up! A temporary spotlight in the yard directed at the front door is always a good idea. Decorate early and enjoy your home from Thanksgiving until
Epiphany in early January. Thanksgiving and Christmas give
us opportunities to take a breath and consider what is important in our lives. While sitting at the table of a friend or family member during either holiday, take a minute to look at those around you and acknowledge how life would be di erent without them. Recognize how lucky we are to be with those we love. And the one thing we know for certain is we all need love.
