story by Kelsey Sunderman-Foster photos courtesy of Andrea Davis
ai Davis, a talented nine year old from Gulfport, will attend the National American Miss Pageant in California during the week of Thanksgiving. After winning the state pageant
in June, Kai advanced to the national level where she will represent her state with pride.
As 2018 National American Miss Mississippi, Kai will compete to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes. The pageant program focuses on inner beauty, poise and presentation and is dedicated to encouraging future leaders.
“Representing the state is important to
me because I want to show them just how much talent we have here,” said Kai. “Most people only know us by what they see on
TV and I want them to see my Mississippi through me. I am ready to represent!”
Kai’s mother Andrea says her daughter was born to entertain and enjoys singing, dancing, acting, reading, listening to music, and playing the piano. She is a member of the Kelli’s Steps award-winning Showstopper competition
dance team and has the overall highest grade point average in her class.
We wish Kai the very best as she flies to California to compete in the pageant!

Fais Do Do
ON DECEMBER 2
story by Kelsey Sunderman-Foster
The Gulf Coast Carnival Association will host its Children’s Christmas Fais Do Do on December 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mary Mahoney’s in Biloxi. The annual event offers children a fun- filled afternoon with Santa Claus, Queen Ixolib, King d’Iberville and past royalty. The Fais Do Do also includes photo opportunities, food and drinks, music and a children’s craft.
“The reason we do this is to get
members’ children involved at an early age,” said Andi Oustalet, mother of current reigning Queen Ixolib, Kate Rushton. “It’s also a chance for children to get to see the costumes up close and get to meet the King and Queen.”
The event is open to the public and Christmas attire is encouraged. Admission is $25 per person or $100 for five tickets. Tickets can
be purchased by contacting Susan Hunt at huntsd41@yahoo.com.
