Diamondhead is Mississippi’s newest incorporated city and nestled perfectly between Gulfport
and New Orleans it provides residents and the public with a source of relaxation and entertainment. There’s a country club offering plenty of amenities, including two 18-hole championship golf courses, the Coast’s only indoor/outdoor Golf Academy, eight clay tennis courts and many more activities. According to some residents, Diamondhead is the perfect community for retirees looking for an active lifestyle.
Rita and Robbie Reidenauer have been visiting Diamondhead since the beginning of their marriage more than 40 years ago. Originally from New Orleans, the two quickly fell in love with Diamondhead’s quiet and relaxed atmosphere. “The people here are so friendly and cordial and there’s always something going on,” said Rita Reidenauer. “No matter what you’re interested in, there’s something for you to enjoy. My
own personal involvement has been a bible study group, but there are so many clubs and organizations that it’s easy to find a home in one of them.”
Robbie Reidenauer was especially drawn to Diamondhead for its golf opportunities. With their two 18-hole courses and Golf Academy, Diamondhead Country Club is perfect for avid golfers as well as players who are looking
to further develop their skills. The courses
offer players of all abilities an unforgettable golf experience, and also provide some of the community’s most scenic real estate with homes along their tree-lined fairways.
Though there are many beautiful homes already in existence, the community’s housing market is booming. “There is a building explosion going
on right now, with new custom homes constantly being built,” said Robbie Reidenauer. “People are definitely moving here.” With added residents, Diamondhead has expanded to accommodate
the ever-growing population. “Since we became
a city, we don’t really have to leave in order to shop,” said Gayla Torguson, another Diamondhead resident. “We have access to drugstores and grocery stores and don’t have to go far to get what we need.”
Gayla and her husband Larry Torguson were drawn to the city because of its strong sense of community and the amenities. The two enjoy ballroom dancing and love participating in a variety of dance activities. “We belong to several Mardi Gras krewes, and we go to the country club’s Friday night dance nights,” said Gayla Torguson. “The club also provides weekly karaoke on Thursdays. No matter what your interests are, there’s something here for everyone.”
