On Thursday, Nov. 17, the first-ever Five Course Feast will feature live cooking demonstrations and five courses prepared and presented by five Coast mayors and talented chefs representing each of their cities.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew “Fo Fo” Gillich, Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes, Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran, Pass Christian Mayor Chipper McDermott and Bay St. Louis Mayor Les Fillingame will partner with executive sous chefs from some of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s top restaurants including Kristian Wade from Beau Rivage (Biloxi), David Dickensauge from Corks & Cleaver (Gulfport), Alex Perry from Vestige (Ocean Springs), Pass Christian caterer Jo Ann Hansen, and Nancy Moynan from LuLu’s on Main (Bay St. Louis), for a night of Gulf Coast- themed cooking demonstrations and fun.
Hosted by noted Mississippi restaurateur and author Robert St. John and presented by Beau Rivage, all proceeds will benefit Extra Table, an organization that purchases and delivers healthy food in bulk to Mississippi food pantries and soup kitchens each month. On the Gulf Coast, Extra Table is partnered with Feed My Sheep, The Lord is My Help, Loaves & Fishes, Our Daily Bread and St. Gerard Outreach. One hundred percent of donations received through Extra Table are used specifically for its mission to purchase food and end hunger.
“The evening will include lively cooking demos by each city’s mayor and chef as each course is brought out to guests,” said Extra Table founder St. John. “We’ll also have a People’s Choice award and other surprises. But we hope to do more than just provide an unforgettable meal, we hope to create awareness and make significant contributions to the hungry and less fortunate along the Mississippi Gulf Coast,
at a time when they need it most.”
According to Feeding America, Mississippi has the highest rate of food insecurity in the nation at 22 percent, up from the national average of 14 percent. In the three Mississippi coastal counties alone, nearly 100,000 people — the majority of whom are children — go to bed hungry.
Tickets are $75 each or a pair for $125. Tables of 10 are $1,000 and include wine pairings and recognition during the event. A limited number of VIP seats are available at the Chef’s Table on stage for $500 per person. Chef’s Table tickets include a VIP meet/greet reception with Robert St. John, seating on stage and an overnight stay at Beau Rivage with a breakfast buffet for two and name recognition at the event.
The Five Course Feast will begin at 7 p.m. in Beau Rivage’s Magnolia Ballroom. Cocktail attire is recommended. To purchase tickets, visit www.fivecoursefeast.com.
