Education is at the center
of The Farmer and The Chef fundraiser. The March of Dimes aims to teach pregnant women and families how to choose local foods and fresh produce to eat healthier
and lead healthier lives. Representatives of the March of Dimes began planning
the event by attending local farmers’ markets, speaking with farmers and learning how their farms work. Parker said, “We really wanted to know what it’s like to be a farmer in Mississippi since it’s a huge industry in our state.”
Helping bring the farm-to-
table experience to life will
be chefs from some of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s best restaurants and caterers: Calvin Coleman from Naomi’s Catering, Patrick Heim from Taste! Catering, Kenneth Taylor from Beau Rivage Casino, Ryan Hayes from the Golden Nugget Casino, Kelly English of Magnolia House in Harrah’s Gulf Coast Casino, and Island View Casino’s David Crabtree.
All money raised through The Farmer and The Chef will stay in Mississippi, helping families such as the Jenkinses and children throughout the state.

Every day I
hear stories of people who say he has saved their child’s life, or their grandchild’s life. What a testimony his life is.
