The annual Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival just keeps getting better and better and this year’s kick-off event is going to be even more spectacular than previous launch parties.
Oh, you’ll still get to raise a glass to last year’s Blue Moon Art Project participants and snack on tasty treats, sip beer, listen to music, and bid on silent auction items, but instead of a stationary party, this year’s Blue Moon Kick-Off is a six-restaurant pub crawl with a football
theme.
The event is set for 6 p.m. October 15 and the participating
restaurants will each offer a different beer with a complimenting food pairing. The night begins downtown in the City of Discovery at the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street- Tourism Bureau tent set up at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Government Street in front of Chandeleur Outfitters.
And there will also be a couple of puzzling surprises along the way. “The pub crawl starts with stopping by the tent and getting your first puzzle piece,” said Chamber President and CEO Cynthia Sutton. “At each stop, participants will get another puzzle piece to let them know where to go next and they will literally be building an art piece that’s theirs in the end.”
The event ends at Murky Waters on Government Street where pub crawlers will find Elizabeth Huffmaster, the 2023 Blue Moon Art Project Winner, signing posters of her award-winning artwork.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance on the chamber-main street’s website. Tickets can also be bought on the night of the pub crawl but only up until 7 p.m.
F.E.B. Distributing Company is a long-time presenting sponsor of the Peter Anderson Festival, a partnership created 14 years ago with the inaugural Blue Moon Art Project.
“It’s been a great complement to the festival and become an avenue to attract more and more artists each year,” said Jeff Bertucci, F.E.B. Distributing vice president of operations. “We are extremely proud to showcase the winner’s art every year in all of the promotions we do.”
Bertucci added when they approached the chamber 14 years ago to sponsor the Blue Moon Art Project, there were similar Blue Moon art events at festivals throughout the country.
“And now, ours is the only one that’s still going strong,” he said.
