COAST NOTE
Ryan Mahan began his meteorology career at WXXV June of 2014, after graduating from USA in Mobile. Serving seven years as News 25’s evening meteorologist, he took a new opportunity at WDAM in Hattiesburg where he served as Chief Meteorologist from 2021 until July of this year when he returned to WXXV as Chief Meteorologist.
“It’s great to be back where I began my career. It feels like a full circle moment,” says Mahan. “I enjoyed my time in Hattiesburg but had a longing to eventually return to my home community on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
Mahan can be seen delivering your Weather Authority forecast on WXXV weekday mornings from 5 to 9 a.m. and at noon on Mondays and Tuesdays.

on iHeart Media, follow his satellite sunrises on social media, or catch him providing the Shuckers forecast before and during each home ballgame.
In addition to the return of Mahan
in July, WXXV added Ethan Krauss as the new morning co-anchor, alongside Ansley Brent. Krauss, a native of Fairfax, Virginia, came to WXXV from West Virginia University to start his journalism career as a reporter. He quickly earned a spot as a Monday through Friday morning anchor.
“It’s been an amazing experience beginning my career here at WXXV. Not only has it been great getting
to know my coworkers and fellow journalists, but it has also been great getting to know the community in which I live. I like getting to know our
viewers and giving them a great option to tune into every day,” says Krauss.
The changes continue this fall as WXXV moves its afternoon and evening news coverage to single channels. Program Director, Jimmy Spears, says, “We want to give our daytime viewers more options by bringing in additional syndicated programs instead of simulcasting our news.”
Now the WXXV News broadcasts
at Noon and 5 p.m. will only air on
the WXXV NBC channel. The WXXV FOX channel will carry added entertainment during these times.
“By consolidating our newscasts to a single channel, we can provide more entertainment for our viewing audience on the alternate channels. We hope you enjoy the changes,” adds Spears.
