but did you know October is also Liver Cancer Awareness Month?
Liver cancer is treatable and, for some, even curable when caught early, that’s why it is important to be aware of the risk factors. Cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), Hepatitis B and C infections,
excessive alcohol use, obesity, diabetes and certain inherited conditions such as iron overload can all increase a person’s
risk of liver cancer. You can lower your risk by adopting healthy lifestyle habits like regular exercise, weight control,
limiting alcohol and asking your doctor if you should be screened for hepatitis B/C or iron overload.
If you already have a condition that increases your risk for liver cancer, you may be a candidate for screening.
Ask your doctor.
