Wharton-Smith Construction Company moved into Mississippi in 2014 and has been busy ever since. Operating from their Gulfport office, the Gulf Coast Division Office works on projects
from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Panama City, Florida, and as far north as the Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida northern state lines. Mark McDaniel, director of operations of the Gulf Coast Division, discusses new construction techniques along with recently completed commercial projects and those currently underway through the Gulf Coast Office.
THE PROJECTS INCLUDE:
• The Gulfport High School practice gym
• The University of South Alabama Football Stadium press tower
• The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Fine and Performing Arts Facility
• The Pascagoula High School Performing Arts Facility
• Mississippi State Port at Gulfport Marine Research Center
• The Pearl River Upper and Lower Elementary School
• The West Harrison County Middle School
• The State Port at Gulfport
Ocean Enterprises Facility (under construction, completing in April 2022)
• The Escambia County Pleasant Grove Elementary School (under construction, completing in October 2022)
• The new female housing addition
to the Baldwin County Corrections Center (under construction, completing in March 2025)
