While the Walleys have perfected the trail over the years, it still takes a lot of time and hard work to pull it off. “Kiowa will put in over 400 hours of work getting the trail ready prior to opening night,” Ann Marie says. “He absolutely loves Halloween, and we really enjoy getting to see the joy it brings to the children, teenagers and adults who visit.”
Ann Marie and Kiowa Walley of Gulfport take Halloween especially seriously, transforming the yard of their Bayou View home into the ultimate haunted trail. Complete with lights, props and, of course, a fair amount of gore, their haunted trail draws crowds from all around.
Kiowa hopes to do all he can to support the cause.
According to Ann Marie, Kiowa is the brains of the operation and really puts his heart into creating his masterpiece each year. “He comes up with the whole design, from the creative process to the installation and final details,” said Ann Marie. “He is very creative and thinks of the most artistic props. We also have
The design process begins as early as July with installation completed by the end of September. That leaves October for decorating and adding the eerie finishing touches.
“We have had great success with the trail the past several years, and this year we will be collecting donations for the American Cancer Society,” said Kiowa. “I’m excited to be able to create something that brings so much joy to those who visit our trail, and to be able to support finding a cure for breast cancer at the same time.”
This year, Kiowa is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink ambassador program, and is using the Halloween trail to help raise money for breast cancer awareness
