team work closely with a local
artist to craft an “official” festival
t-shirt that is only sold during
festival season and at the festival
each year. Paying tribute to the
Anderson family and Shearwater
Pottery creator, Peter Anderson,
one of the family artists, Christopher
Stebly crafts a one of a kind design
exclusively for the festival. Paired
in opposite colors, the festival shirt
features details that celebrate the history and legacy of the Anderson family and art community of Ocean Springs.
“This year’s shirt is a significant and appropriate design
that portrays Ocean Springs,” says Lorna Martin, Ocean Springs Chamber volunteer.“Each year the shirt theme is a revitalization of the arts leaving behind a wonderful sense of place for future generations of artists.”
This year’s design showcases what we on the Mississippi Gulf Coast fondly call the Shearwater bird. Slender-billed birds that range from 14-26 inches in length, these gorgeous feather creatures are known for gliding on stiff wings along the troughs of waves. Distinctive coastal water birds found near sand-bars, estuaries, and mouths of the rivers of our Southern States, this bird is also the symbol of Shearwater
Pottery. The shop overlooks the Ocean Springs Inner Harbor off Shearwater Drive.
